The Centre for Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI), Goa University promotes interdisciplinary research on the varied forms of social marginality in India. The aim of the centre is to study the various aspects of social inclusion by creating awareness about the theme in various communities as well as creating a cadre of scholars and activists in this area. The objective is to create ideas and knowledge to facilitate an inclusive society.
Centre is primarily involved in research in the area of discrimination experienced by marginalized communities, namely, Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Castes, religious minorities and other socially excluded groups like physically and mentally disabled, AIDS patients, etc. The Centre has been involving in activities of empowering these groups by providing platform for advocacy and articulating their voices and concerns through organising seminars, workshops, symposia, lectures, etc. on related topics.
