Goa University is one among the select state Universities as host institution under the GIAN scheme. Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) is a program by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India aiming at bringing international scientists and entrepreneurs to Higher Education institutes and Universities in India so as to augment its academic resources and to initiate collaborative programs with international experts. In this scheme, foreign experts will deliver series of lectures in Indian academic institutions thereby providing opportunities to students, faculties, researchers and industrialists for gaining knowledge, skills and expertise from the international faculty. This scheme will also encourage international experts to work in Indian environment and motivate them to work on problems related to India. Proposals for new courses are invited every year by GIAN. The proposals are reviewed by subject experts and approved courses are funded for implementation by GIAN.
