The Directorate of Digital Learning and Initiatives (DDLI) is one of the oldest centre of the university which was established in the year 2002 (then known as Distance Education and Training Infrastructure - DEITI). The concept was visualised based on the directives and guidelines of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India to impart education using modern digital technology via satellite mode reaching out to the remotest areas across the state of Goa.

The facility is equipped with state of the art fully acoustic lecture recording studio floor with multi-cam setup. The videos are recorded in full HD (capable of producing in 6K) and does have excellent post production applications & equipment’s. (Kindly refer here for detailed equipment & software list.)

The centre initially started to broadcast the video (then over extended C-Band, PAL/SD) targeting higher secondary schools and college students of the state of Goa. Subsequently the facility was further extended to Education Department, Goa under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for training the primary teachers over the satellite mode. The facility was also used by Goa Medical College under Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and various video conferences were conducted to train doctors and personal from medical field.

In recent years, DDLI is fully devoted towards production of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). DDLI produced the first MOOCs in Marine Science under Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) for Indias first MOOCs platform SWAYAM (https://swayam.gov.in/) in the year 2018-2019. DDLI also encourages Goa University faculty to generate e-content on the lines SWAYAM for other universities too.

Thus the centre is engaged in disseminating knowledge to wide spectrum of population bisecting geographical boundaries, languages, socio-economic barriers and is committed to fulfil the following objectives,

To create the digital learning environment
Act as catalyst between faculty and various modes of digital learning.
Encouraging usage of teaching – learner ICT technologies.
Providing exposure to latest teaching tools

MISSION

The mission of the directorate is to create an environment that potentially bridges the gap between the convectional methodologies of teaching and the modern technology enhanced teaching mode by use of latest ICT and digital teaching tools. And to constantly provide training to upgrade the skill & knowledge of student-teacher community across the state of Goa.
