    Rudra Veena maestro Bahauddin Dagar’s, week long course on Discovering the Drupad Tradition in Indian Classical Music will be held from 18th to 26th August 2014 in Multipurpose Hall, Central Library Building, Patto,  Panaji, Goa.   Ustad Dagar is a Visiting Chair Research Professor under the Nana Shirgaokar Chair for Indian Classical Music, in Goa University

    From 18-26 August 2014, a unique course that includes the screening and discussion on Mani Kaul’s film, “Drupad”, lectures and demonstrations on Rudraveena style and technique, characteristics of Jugalbandi, aspects of pakhwaj-veena sangat and audio visual presentations of various schools of Drupad,   will be conducted at the Multipurpose Hall of Sanskrtiti Bhavan (Central Library), Patto in Panaji from  5-7 pm on all days except Saturday and  Sunday.

    Acknowledging his responsibility in taking the Dhrupad tradition to future generations, Baha’ud-din will share his knowledge and talent with music lovers in Goa and his lectures are open to students and the general public and require no prior knowledge of the subject.     Objective: To understand the significance and concept of Indian classical music through dialogue and demonstration.  More emphasis will be given to DHRUPAD – one of the ancient style of singing/playing the Indian classical music. This is an introductory course that invites participants to the beauty and variations of India’s traditional music using one music school (Gharana) as its focus of attention.
